About
Monica O’Brien is the founder of Twenty Set, a blog about personal and professional growth and development for the Millennial generation. She has been a blogger since 1998 when blogging was still in its “Dear Diary” form and in May 2007 began blogging for personal branding and profit. Monica writes about a broad range of topics, including, but not limited to:
- personal branding
- choosing a career path
- finances and financial planning
- living in a large city
- getting into grad school
- women’s issues in the workplace, and
- getting married in her early 20’s
Monica realizes the Millennial generation is entering the workforce at a time when there is no clear-cut path, no corporate ladder to climb, and no guarantees on job security. The Millennial generation must learn new techniques for success as the job market becomes more volatile and life and career blend indistinguishably. Her goal is to help young people realize their goals, dreams, and passions early on in life so they can start pursuing them while still in their 20’s.
Monica also works full time as a quality engineer at a mid-sized trading software company in Chicago. She holds a Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science and is earning an MBA part-time at a top ten business school.
